The American Flag

The American Flag is composed of thirteen horizontal stripes, each equal in size.
The stripes are alternately red and white. The blue canton in the upper left corner of this flag has fifty white five-pointed stars. Nine rows of stars alternate five and six stars per row.

Each of the fifty stars represents a state in the United States of America. The thirteen stripes represent the thirteen original colonial states that made up the United States. The banner is commonly known as Old Glory and also as Stars and Stripes.

The US flag, which is widely recognized as the symbol of the United States, is displayed on houses, businesses, government buildings, schools and other institutions. In addition to the traditional US flag, many people display stickers of the United States Flag on their vehicles, and U.S. Fashion accessories like flag lapel pins have also become very popular.

Standard Color Reference of America 10th Edition defines the correct red, white and blue colors that should be used in the American flag. White, Old Glory Red and Old Glory Blue are the names of these colors. Only American flags flown by the United States Government are required to have official colors www.vlajkystatu.eu. Commercially sold flags may not be exactly the correct colors.
